Apparently they never told anyone (small office-remember?) B/c when I ran into a couple of my ex-colleagues 4 months later I was greeted with a "where have you been? Everything ok?"

Wow, that is beyond the pale. I have a low opinion of agencies based on my experience, and the family bullshit couldn’t be more pervasive. Hope you’re getting back on your feet. 😊
