What Is Wrong With You?

Whining about wearing a mask is why we’re still here

Welcome to the country of crybabies, where everyone stomps their petulant feet and routinely confuses “rights” with “privilege.” The acrobatics they exhibit to get out of the inconvenience of wearing a mask is astonishing. In a country where millions of people are steeped in an ouroboros-level of poverty — living in motels or on sidewalks, and subsisting on one meal, if that, a day — and children are routinely murdered whilst navigating long division, people choose to win about being selfless. Of considering the lives of others. Of being so desperate to return to what they perceive to be normal, which was never really normal, but rather a sequence of events that culminated to the nightmare that is our waking life.

It seems as if the only word Americans know is me. And they’ll chant that word like a sermon or sad country song until they get what they want. Until they’re the main character of the world’s story. It occurs to me how selfish my country is.

In cities, we step over the bodies of the homeless on our way to work and are disgusted by tent colonies sprouting up across the country. Can’t they get a job, we mime without realizing the seismic shifts in our economy after The Great Recession of 2008. Without…
