This is actually why I refuse to be weighed when I go to the doctor. No one had issues with my health when I was a size 0, snorting coke and living on Lean Cuisine. I'm still straight-sized (size 8) but I've gotten crap from my doctor about being "pre-diabetic," which took another decent doctor to educate me on this and the answer isn't as simple as losing weight especially if you're genetically disposed to diabetes.
It's at the point where I've turned into an intimidating bitch and doctors shut up when I shut them down. Just last week, at an urgent care visit, I said "I don't want to be weighed" and gave them a weight number. The nurse was like (side-eyeing me), "are you sure?" And I said, "what about XX lbs did you not understand?" She was like, "I'm just doing my job," and I said, "your job isn't to judge me. It's to get my vitals before I see the doctor."
Sadly, this is how I've had to be to bypass any "hmm, you've put on a few extra pounds." And it's EXHAUSTING.
If I get this garbage and I'm a size 8, I can't even imagine what other women have to go through. It's honestly appalling. The health care system in the U.S. is garbage and I'm sorry you had to go through all this
