I’m just glad the popularity contest of clap-for-clap is gone. I’ll be honest — it was frustrating seeing people drop posts and within an hour have hundreds of claps from everyone in their writing circle and FB groups. I’d look at the number of reads on my work and know I was doing something right because people are reading, sending me notes, and hiring me for gigs (which was my objective for using the platform), but I’ll admit it’s hard to sometimes not be tethered to vanity metrics. Even if they’re meaningless in the grand scheme of things.
