Hi, Andrea — Thank you so much for reading and your kind words.

I don’t think you need to choose one over the marketing — getting good at the work and marketing it, it’s more like prioritizing one over the other. Sadly, way too many people devolve into formulaic writing in order to game this platform to make more money and it’s honestly at the detriment of the work and the malleability of it off the platform. I may be in the minority, but I don’t care about claps and reads — that doesn’t motivate me because I don’t see bigger and more as necessarily better. If I’m reaching and affecting the people I want to reach, if I feel my work getting better, that’s the reward. Money and all that jazz will come.

Hope that adds a bit more clarity.
