Amen to all of this. I’m white-passing with zero family and a pretty horrible childhood, so I know struggle. BUT I’m insanely privileged, which has helped, not hurt, my situation. I acknowledge life has been easier for me because of my skin color and relative attractiveness. It’s so frustrating when I see these self-help authors act dismissive of their privilege because it’s part of how they got to where they are and it can’t be replicated if you’re in a marginalized community.
